Aqara G2H Camera – New Release?

A user in a HomeKit Facebook group today uploaded a pair of images of upcoming Aqara products found on what appears to be the Chinese online store jd.com, showing off the G2H camera, which many Aqara fans are excited about. have been around for a while, and the P3 air conditioning plug, which will be new to many others. None of these new products can be found on the website mentioned above, so they may have already been retired, but our contact at Aqara seems to suggest that they are upcoming news from the manufacturer.

The interesting thing in the case of the Aqara G2H Camera is that it has 4 different colors: white, navy blue, red and yellow. The yellow version also briefly appeared on GearBest.com, but was quickly removed as well. We're told these colors could only be for the Chinese market, although it's possible they'll skip the Chinese border.

The camera uses WiFi, but also contains a Zigbee 3.0 hub, which is one step above the current Aqara G2 Camera, a model that is not compatible with HomeKit, although it does have a Zigbee hub, but it is not Zigbee 3.0. The camera will also support HomeKit Secure Video, although it is not yet known if it will be available at launch.

The Aqara P3 air conditioning controller is the other device that was 'leaked' and comes with HomeKit functionality built-in. This new device follows previous iterations that the company has made, which is actually a device with more than what its name implies. On the surface it looks like a normal plug, although it's actually Zigbee too, so it can act as a hub for Aqara sensors and switches, as well as being a bridge for HomeKit, but you can also control your AC units with the built-in IR device. The device itself connects to your home network via WiFi in the same way as the current Aqara hub.

Like the Aqara hub, the P3 can support up to 32 secondary devices, with the ability to extend this to 128 devices with the use of what is described as “Zigbee router extension functionality”. The P3 will be able to support most of the same devices that the current hub supports, including Mi or Mijia branded devices.

The only question that remains is whether the P3 will be suitable for other regions, as current models come with a Chinese/Australian style socket.
